Job Duties
Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Lead Rehab Assistant who will develop and implement training or therapeutic interventions within the psychosocial treatment program; determine appropriate work roles for patients increasing challenges as appropriate; provide constructive feedback to clients on work behaviors and job performance; train patients in food preparation food safety customer service cash register use cleaning and general work behaviors; and discuss areas of concern to patients in a supportive respectful and client-centered manner.
This position will also maintain equipment in proper safe working order following procedures for malfunctioning equipment; filter fryer oil on at least a weekly basis and ensure that oil is changed on a monthly basis; organize quarterly breakdown and cleaning of canteen; ensure that food will be stored labeled prepared and served in compliance with ServeSafe guidelines; complete PSR group notes on a weekly basis as needed; and will attend a minimum of 6 hours of PSR staff development sessions per year.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Virginia Drivers license
- Knowledge of psychiatric disabilities personality development and behavior food operations and activity programs
- Ability to involve patients in activities
- Ability to follow directions and communicate clearly; ability to work with a variety of disabilities and report patients status orally written and via computer
- Ability to perform essential functions of position which include: walking sitting and/or standing as part of routine work; visual acuity to observe and report changes in consumers behaviors on a continuous basis; bending lifting and reaching overhead to assist consumers to perform activities
