The College of Agricultural and Natural Resources (CANR) is seeking an Occupational Safety Officer to enhance and lead the colleges safety management program. This senior level position will be responsible for overseeing workplace health and safety for CANR faculty staff students and visitors while building and fostering a culture of safety. The successful candidate will work to develop implement evaluate and continuously improve a comprehensive occupational health and safety management system that aims to meet ISO 45001 standard requirements manage and enhance existing CANR safety programs and develop new programs as needed. This position will work to investigate safety and health concerns and maintain records necessary to demonstrate compliance with applicable federal state and local health safety and environmental regulations. This role will also work to evaluate faculty and student research projects for health and safety and/or environmental impacts and create strategies for managing risks.
Knowledge equivalent to that which would normally be acquired by completing a Bachelors Degree in engineering industrial hygiene occupational safety physics chemistry or a closely related field such as environmental health and safety or a science-related discipline; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in industrial/occupational safety and developing and delivering safety training; experience in conducting safety compliance assessments and audits; knowledge of federal occupational safety standards and practices; or an equivalent combination of education or experience.
