Range Explanation:

  • Hiring Range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills qualifications experience education licenses training and internal equity.

  • Pay Range is the entire compensation range for the position.

We are currently seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join the Pima County Human Resources (HR) Department as a Human Resources Coordinator II supporting our Health Department. In this role you will serve as a Department Personnel Representative playing a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating human resources activities within the department.

As the HR Coordinator II you will be responsible for a wide range of HR functions including recruitment processes from job posting to application screening and facilitating the onboarding process for new hires. You will work closely with hiring managers to ensure a smooth and efficient recruitment experience for both candidates and the department.

In addition to recruitment you will provide assistance and guidance to department employees in interpreting HR policies and procedures. Your expertise and knowledge in HR matters will be instrumental in addressing employee concerns and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. You will be the go-to person for employees seeking assistance with understanding their benefits package managing leave requests and addressing related inquiries.

Essential Functions:

As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act this classification may include any of the following tasks knowledge skills and other characteristics.   • Conducts special studies as assigned analyzes data and findings develops recommendations and makes presentations to management;

  • Makes recommendations on new and/or revised human resources practices and procedures;

  • Conducts internal and external surveys and studies; reviews compares and analyzes data;

  • Creates questionnaires or survey tools to gather data; collaborates and follows up to completion;

  • Completes and responds to external surveys or other related inquires;

  • Provides input to supervisors and management in long- and short-term planning goals and objectives related to the area of assignment;

  • Maintains appropriate confidentiality of all materials and information encountered in performance of duties;

  • Maintains current knowledge of all federal state local statutes/regulations policies and procedures relating to area of assignment;

  • Represents Human Resources management or assigned work unit when directed at various meetings;

  • Participates in professional training meetings seminars conferences etc. to stay current of law and best practices in the field of human resources;

  • May conduct training and information sessions using multiple modalities;

  • May coordinate participate and lead other staff in unique or complex studies projects or assignments as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in human resources public or business administration or other closely related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND two years of professional-level human resources experience in either compensation/classification benefits/wellness programs Human Resources Information Systems and/or talent acquisition/recruitment.

(Additional relevant experience or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)

OR:

Two years of experience with Pima County performing personnel or human resources functions.

Preferred Qualifications: (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):

  • Minimum one (1) years of experience in human resources supporting a large department or organization with high demands and varying levels of human resources subject matters.

  • Minimum one (1) years ofexperience and knowledge of Pima Countys policies and procedures.

  • Minimum two (2) years ofexperience with Microsoft Software Office (Word Excel Outlook Teams etc.) and/or business tracking programs/systems.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience managing recruitment programs and processes.

Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.

Supplemental Information:

Licenses and Certificates:Valid driver license is required at time of application. ValidAZdriver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicants suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services review and approval of the candidates driving record.

Special Notice Items: The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history education and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County.
