Job Description

We are seeking a Part-Time IT Systems Administrator to support and maintain our companys technology infrastructure. This is an on-site role based in our Rockville MD office with a part-time schedule (approximately 20 hours per week plus alternate on call weekends). The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating with leadership and staff.

The successful candidate will be responsible for keeping systems running efficiently and securely providing user support and contributing to IT project execution. This role is ideal for an experienced IT professional looking for a part-time opportunity with hands-on responsibility and organizational impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install configure and maintain operating systems and business-critical software (Windows 10/11 Windows Server 2019).
  • Administer Active Directory DNS DHCP and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
  • Manage virtual environments (Hyper-V) and assist with cloud integration where needed.
  • Provide support for Office 365 applications email and remote access tools (VPN RDP).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware software networking and connectivity.
  • Set up and support end-user devices including desktops mobile phones and laptops.
  • Maintain and support business-critical applications including point-of-sale (POS) software.
  • Coordinate and execute hardware/software upgrades and maintenance schedules.
  • Monitor systems for performance reliability and security compliance.
  • Create user accounts manage access permissions and maintain system documentation.
  • Support mobile device configuration and email synchronization.
  • Assist in maintaining internet security and data privacy best practices.
  • Provide in-person phone and remote user support as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT systems administration networking or infrastructure support.
  • Proven experience managing Windows Server environments Active Directory DNS DHCP and GPOs.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware software and networking layers.
  • Experience supporting Office 365 environments and remote access technologies (VPN NAT RDP).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with management and non-technical users.
  • High attention to detail organizational skills and a customer-service mindset.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel locally if required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with WordPress including plugin updates troubleshooting and basic CMS management.
  • Experience using collaboration tools such as GoToAssist.
  • Scripting/automation experience with PowerShell or similar tools.
  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g. CompTIA Network Security Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator) are a plus.
  • Experience supporting multi-location POS & Inventory systems
  • Experience supporting small to mid-sized business environments in a part-time or consulting capacity.
