Position Overview
The Director Business Systems is responsible for providing strategic direction and overseeing the day-to-day operations of assigned Administrative and Financial computing systems with a primary focus on the ServiceNow platform. The ideal candidate will combine strategic vision technical expertise and leadership skills to ensure the ServiceNow platform delivers maximum value to the organization. They will foster collaboration across departments promote operational efficiencies and contribute to achieving St. Judes strategic goals.
- Lead and manage large/critical complex IT areas/teams with responsibilities that span the entire institution.
- Propose innovative & differentiating IT capabilities to respective business teams oversee implementation and adoption for ServiceNow and any other assigned applications.
- Define operational plan and oversee development and execution in line with IT objectives.
- Manage scope schedule and resources to ensure work is delivered in accordance with business needs and established quality standards while eliminating risks.
- Collaborate with key leaders across the institution and external partner/vendor organizations to optimize organizational outcomes.
- Define and lead governance monitoring review and control of processes and functions for ServiceNow and any other assigned applications.
- Provide input into overall budget and variance management for assigned area of responsibility.
- Actively drive processes for team management in terms of goalsetting performance development and engagement.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Director Level Minimum Education and/or Training:
- Bachelors degree in business administration computer science data science information science or related field .
- Masters degree preferred.
Director Level Minimum Experience:
- Minimum requirement: Ten (10) significant years experience in an IT functional area with experience managing mid-large teams with focus on both achievement of objectives as well as critical skill-building.
- Experience working with ServiceNow is strongly preferred.
- Experience having led large-scale projects/processes through to implementation.
- Experience with operational mgmt. budget planning & vendors and resource mgmt.
- Prior experience in building external connections with peers emerging technology communities and vendor networks.
- Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role.
Senior Director Level Minimum Education and/or Training:
- Bachelors or masters degree in business administration computer science data science information science or related field.
Senior Director Level Minimum Experience:
- Minimum Experience: 12 years of experience including significant IT management experience across varying team sizes with focus on both achievement of objectives as well as critical skill-building.
- Experience working with ServiceNow is strongly preferred.
- Experience having led large-scale projects/processes through to implementation.
- Experience with operational mgmt. budget planning & vendors and resource mgmt.
- Prior experience in building external connections with peers emerging technology communities and vendor networks.
- Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role.

- Savvy communicator (skills) who easily adapts communication styles to the audience (e.g. succinct semi-technical for executives and detailed technical discussions with architects engineers and vendors).
- Cultivates relationships seeking to obtain a deep understanding of the St. Jude user communities including their need and use of technology; associated risks and business impact; promotes innovative uses of technology to further opportunities for improvement and efficiency gains.
- Build strong change management practice across the entire technology team. Oversee all change advisory / technology change management for the institution.
- Continuously improve processes and approaches for the benefit of staff technology evolution and efficiencies; proactively solicit and incorporate internal and external feedback for process and experience improvement.
- Be an ambassador for Information Services both internally and externally; consistently demonstrate St. Jude Values.
- Proven track record of working in a goal-oriented and self-directed environment.
Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets experience and training licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $160160 - $329680 per year for the role of Director or Senior Director Business Systems.
