POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Sports Science plays a critical role in advancing the athletic performance and sports science strategies for Tulsa Athletics. This position supports the Assistant Athletic Director (AD) of Strength and Performance in leading a comprehensive data-driven approach to athlete development fostering peak performance while ensuring alignment with NCAA American Athletic Conference and University standards. The Director will serve as a strategic partner providing leadership innovation and technical expertise in sports science across all athletic programs. Essential Functions (Responsibilities): Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership in the design implementation and continuous refinement of strength and conditioning programs for all assigned sports ensuring best practices in sports science are integrated throughout the department. Performance Optimization: Oversee the development of performance pathways leveraging cutting-edge technology and analytics to enhance athlete conditioning reduce injury risk and optimize recovery. Data-Driven Decision Making: Implement advanced data analytics to track assess and enhance the physical development and performance of student-athletes creating actionable insights for coaching staff. Collaboration and Integration: Serve as a strategic collaborator partnering with coaches athletic trainers nutritionists and medical professionals to ensure a holistic approach to athlete care and performance. Technology Management: Manage all sports science technology systems in FA Dry and ACE strength and performance facilities ensuring their effective use in monitoring athlete progress and program outcomes. Mentorship and Culture Building: Act as a positive role model promoting a culture of discipline resilience and peak performance while providing mentorship to strength and conditioning staff. Regulatory Compliance: Maintain thorough understanding of NCAA and conference regulations to ensure full compliance within all aspects of sports science operations. Program Oversight: Maintain comprehensive records for all sport teams aligning training programs with performance objectives and compliance requirements. Special Projects: Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant AD of Performance contributing to the broader goals of the department.

Required Qualifications
Equivalent Education/Experience Bachelors degree in exercise science kinesiology or a related field Minimum of five years of progressive strength training experience ideally at the collegiate or professional level. Current certification from a nationally recognized strength and conditioning organization (e.g. CSCS SCCC ). Current CPR / AED certification (must include in-person skills assessment). Knowledge/Skill/Ability Exceptional leadership communication and team management abilities. Strong understanding of sports science technology data analytics and performance monitoring systems. Comprehensive knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations related to athletic performance and compliance. Special Job Dimensions: Work requires working with highly sensitive or confidential information.
