Job Description

The Lockout/Tags-Plus Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and approving the application verification and removal of lockout and tags-plus systems to protect all workers from hazardous energy sources while working on ships and ship sections. The Lockout/Tag-Plus (LO/TP) Coordinator reports to the Lockout/TagsPlus Supervisor.

  • Responsibilities of this position are defined by 29CFR1915.89 Control of Hazardous Energy.
  • The LO/TP Coordinator shall oversee and approve:
    • The Application of each LO/TP system
    • The verification of hazardous energy isolation
    • The removal of each LO/TP system
  • Maintain a continuous log of each LO/TP application
  • Establish and maintain control of employees authorized to work under the protection of a LO/TP system
  • Support the Safety Department in maintaining a safe and efficient LO/TP program and procedures
  • Support the ship test management team by planning and coordinating test activities in addition to those involving hazardous energy sources to improve the efficiency of the ship test program
  • Foster and maintain a culture of safety in the workplace

Required/Preferred Education/Training

  • AS degree in electrical mechanical or control systems engineering with 3 years experience in Marine Manufacturing or Engineering/Design or 10 years experience in Marine Manufacturing or related military experience.

Required/Preferred Experience

Required:

  • Power and auxiliary systems operation
  • General computer skills including competence with Microsoft Word Excel Project Power Point and Access and experience with web-based data management tools.
  • Ability and desire to work in a team environment

Preferred:

  • OSHA Control of Hazardous Energy processes and procedures in marine or industrial environment
  • NFPA 70E Electrical Safety process and procedures
  • Problem resolution and root cause identification processes
  • Well developed aural and written presentation skills

Unique/Additional Requirements:

Able to maintain organization in the dynamic environment of ship construction and testing.

Position requires occasional night and weekend work
