Key Responsibilities

As the Product Development Manager you will lead the end-to-end process of identifying developing and launching innovative steel product solutions that meet evolving market demands and business objectives. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Market & Customer Insight:
    • Identify customer and industry needs to guide product innovation and development initiatives.
    • Conduct in-depth market research to uncover emerging trends and unmet needs.
  • Product Strategy & Planning:
    • Oversee product roadmaps to ensure alignment with strategic company goals.
    • Develop comprehensive product requirements including technical specifications and pricing strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership:
    • Lead projects from concept through prototyping testing and launch by collaborating with research manufacturing and sales teams.
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to align product objectives with broader organizational goals.
  • Project Management & Execution:
    • Manage multiple product development projects ensuring deadlines budget compliance and quality benchmarks.
    • Monitor production schedules allocate resources and ensure consistent follow-up and delivery.
  • Performance Analysis & Optimization:
    • Conduct ROI analyses and assess market competitiveness to refine product lines.
    • Evaluate product performance using sales data and customer feedback to guide continuous improvement.
  • Go-to-Market Support:
    • Partner with sales and production teams to introduce and market new products effectively.
    • Develop global sales and marketing strategies to increase revenue and enhance product visibility.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    • Support quality management systems and comply with OH&S and company-wide ethics policies.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role candidates should demonstrate the following:

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelors degree in Materials Science Metallurgy Engineering or a related field required. A Masters or Ph.D. is considered an asset.
    • Minimum of 10 years in product development ideally within the steel or manufacturing industries.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in CAD software for product prototyping.
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Deep understanding of oil and gas operations including drilling completions production and refining.
  • Key Competencies:
    • Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities across diverse cross-functional teams.
    • Strong communication presentation and organizational skills.
    • Strategic thinking with the ability to deliver innovative and market-ready solutions.
    • Self-motivated adaptable and results-driven approach.
