Job Description

The SCPS Human Resources team is seeking a SHINE Support Staff Member to support the facilitation and execution of our School Divisions SHINE initiative. Similar to a substitute teacher SHINE Staff Members cover classroom responsibilities for teachers who are participating in mentoring and professional development activities.

Thi position will support our secondary school sites. Schedules will be provided by Human Resources and will require travel to a different middle or high school each day. Classroom coverage may be for one classroom or multiple classrooms as determined by school need.

Essential Functions:

  • Teaches lesson plans as outlined by the teacher
  • Assumes responsibility for student behavior in the classroom during lunch and recess periods and during fire or other disaster drills
  • Follows established procedures for monitoring student behavior when supervising small or large groups
  • Monitor student whereabouts and observe student safety
  • Establishes and maintains positive rapport with students
  • Possesses an ability to work effectively with students at all levels and to establish and maintain good rapport while working closely with other teachers and administrators
  • Reports any pertinent information to the building administrators in case of child endangerment neglect or abuse
  • Uses effective verbal nonverbal and media communication techniques to foster positive
    interactions in the classroom
  • Models professional moral and ethical standards as well as personal integrity in all interactions
  • Performs routine clerical duties such as copying typing answering/making telephone calls and basic troubleshooting
  • Complies with and supports school and division regulations and policies

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Must be 21 years of age or older

Current Rates:

  • $138.38/day
