PAYROLL ANALYST
Location: OCDSB Administration Building; 133 Greenbank Road Nepean ONJob Summary
Reporting to the Team Manager Payroll and working with internal and external stakeholders the Payroll Analyst works independently to perform all tasks related to full cycle payroll processing for all aspects of the Administrative and Support Academic Occasional teaching and Continuing Education biweekly payrolls of approximately 12000 employees. This includes scheduling and transmitting payroll in accordance with respective Board policies and procedures Collective Agreements Employment Standards and payroll legislation to ensure the payroll is completed accurately and on time. The Analyst provides general supervision and direction of work to the Assistant Payroll Administrators and trains and guides payroll staff as required.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 year community college diploma in Business Administration or Accounting and two (2) or more years of payroll experience in a complex multi-union environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Certification in Payroll Compliance Professional or Payroll Leadership Professional through the National Payroll Institute (NPI); or is working towards NPI certification would be considered an asset.
Knowledge of relevant Board policies and procedures Employments Standard Act Payroll legislation and payroll and accounting practices and procedures.
Knowledge of the computerized payroll system and year-to-date fields.
Knowledge of computer applications including Oracle and SQL and proficiency in the use of word processing and spreadsheets applications (Excel).
Working knowledge of K212 Human Resources and Payroll (K212 HRP) is considered an asset.
Interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) to clarify exchange and respond to inquiries from Board Personnel at all levels. Ability to use tact diplomacy and discretion when dealing with confidential information.
Ability to work under strict and sometimes inflexible deadlines.
Analytical and research skills required.
Organization and time management skills to work effectively while juggling multiple tasks to meet stringent timelines.
Initiative and judgment required for making decisions identifying problems and resolving payroll discrepancies.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
