Job Description

Position: Ag Teacher & FFA Advisor Grades 9-12

Reports To: Principal at the High School

Contract: 183 Days (Follows School Calendar)

Start Date: August 4 2025

Job Description:

The Oak Hill United School Corporation is seeking an enthusiastic agriculture education teacher to educate students about agriculture food and natural resources equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in the field. This includes instruction in areas like plant science animal science soil science and agriculture mechanics. Ag teachers also serve as advisors to the Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter fostering leadership and career development skills.

Primary Function:
A teacher in the Agriculture Food and Natural Resources Cluster must perform many duties to facilitate a successful program. It is the responsibility of the teacher to organize and conduct an instructional program that will:

  1. Improve the quality of Agriculture Food and Natural Resources education instruction counseling management and leadership to produce success for all students;
    B. Use strategies for integrating academic and Agriculture Food and Natural Resources education;
    C. Contribute to the educational objectives of the public school system by providing information to agriculture food and natural resources students about career pathways as a guide to achieving necessary skills for continued education and employment;
    D. Provide students with educational and equitable experiences leading to career preparation continued education and employment;
    E. Enhance youth leadership and FFA as an integral part of instruction;
    F. Provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to compete in a global economy; and
    G. Inform students about agriculture and agricultural literacy.


Position Requirements:
In order to accomplish these responsibilities the teacher will perform the following activities during and after school hours.

  • Conduct an instructional program that educates students about career pathways in agriculture that can be used as a guide to achieving necessary skills for continued education and employment which includes preparing materials such as syllabi homework assignments and handouts for possible classes such as Principles of Agriculture Ag Power Horticulture or Landscaping.
  • Initiate facilitate and moderate classroom discussions
  • Create lesson plans that are in conformity with school policy for all courses offered and provide instructional materials and instructional methods used to make teaching and learning effective
  • Enhance youth leadership and FFA as an integral part of instruction
  • Provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to compete in a global economy
  • Remain abreast and Inform students about agriculture and agricultural literacy
  • Oversee Supervised Agricultural Experience programs of all students who receive instruction by assisting students in selecting a program that fits their interests and abilities; maintaining records locating training stations make supervisory visits during school year and during summer month
  • Prepare and submit FFA rosters entries registrations etc. required by the local district area state and office promptly and keep an accurate file copy of all records and reports
  • Attend in area state and national training meetings

  • Bachelors degree in agricultural education or other agricultural related field when coupled with appropriate state teaching licensure.
