    Position Summary:

    New London Local Schools is seeking a dynamic and dedicated 3rd Grade English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher who is passionate about literacy and student growth. This individual will be responsible for providing high-quality Tier 1 instruction in alignment with Ohios Learning Standards for English Language Arts and ensuring all students meet or exceed expectations under the Third Grade Reading Guarantee (TGRG). The successful candidate will serve as a key member of our collaborative instructional team using data to guide instruction and intervention while fostering a positive and engaging classroom environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Deliver daily ELA instruction aligned to Ohios Learning Standards using evidence-based literacy practices.

    • Administer and analyze state-approved diagnostics and screeners (e.g. Acadience) to identify students at risk under the Third Grade Reading Guarantee.

    • Develop and implement Reading Improvement and Monitoring Plans (RIMPs) in collaboration with parents support staff and administrators.

    • Provide targeted small group and differentiated instruction based on student data to ensure reading proficiency.

    • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure instructional coherence and vertical alignment within the ELA program.

    • Communicate regularly and effectively with families especially for students on RIMPs as required under the TGRG.

    • Utilize formative and summative assessment data to monitor progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

    • Participate in all required professional development related to the TGRG and structured literacy initiatives.

    • Maintain accurate records and comply with all district state and federal reporting requirements related to student reading performance.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Valid Ohio Teaching License in Early Childhood (P-3) or Middle Childhood (49) with a Language Arts concentration.

    • Meets ODEWs qualifications to provide reading instruction under the Third Grade Reading Guarantee including one of the following:

      • A reading endorsement.

      • Masters degree in reading.

      • Evidence of passing a rigorous test of principles of scientifically research-based reading instruction.

      • Rated Skilled or Accomplished on the most recent teacher evaluation and has at least 3 years of successful reading instruction experience.

    • Demonstrated experience using data to inform instruction and close reading achievement gaps.

    • Strong understanding of structured literacy the Science of Reading and evidence-based instructional strategies.

    • Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with Acadience Reading or similar TGRG-approved screeners.

    • Experience writing and implementing Reading Improvement and Monitoring Plans (RIMPs).
