Job Description

Job Summary

Ensures all students receive content area instruction based upon ELA B.E.S.T Standards. Monitors and revises mapping of content and standards-based curriculum. Ensures meeting of District goals for producing college ready students

Essential Functions


1. Supervises and trains assigned staff conducts performance appraisals makes employment and discipline recommendations and coordinates work assignments.
2. Develops and/or delivers training professional development and train-the-trainer for school and district coaches.
3. Develops department strategies across multiple grade levels and content area programs with clear specific performance measures for related priorities.
4. Ensures development and implementation of K-12 content area curriculum.
5. Ensures adoption of textbooks and support resources for instructional materials.
6. Ensures and assists with implementation of summer content area programs.
7. Ensures coordination and implementation of District level content area projects partnerships and book celebrations.
8. Provides guidance to schools in determining pupil progression and interpreting K-12 content area policies.
9. Monitors content area benchmarking and progress assessments.
10. Assists and supports Academic Services in completion of grant applications interpreting state Differentiated Accountability requirements and executive staff directions.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Masters degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five (5) years teaching content area experience. Experience teaching at the elementary or secondary level.

Certifications & Licenses: Florida Department of Education Certification in content area K-6 or 6-12 and Administration and Supervision K12 or Educational Leadership (unless Masters degree is in the content area or a broad curriculum area).

  • Thorough knowledge of content area instruction best practices
  • Thorough knowledge of technology used in intensive content area
  • Strong working knowledge of school district state and federal policies guidelines laws and rules related to content area instruction
  • Strong working knowledge of instructional design methodologies using teaching methods that appeal to different learning types
  • Knowledge of adult learner theories
  • Knowledge of professional development best practices
  • Knowledge of professional development evaluation levels
  • Knowledge of content area related subjects
  • Strong working knowledge of content area standards
  • Strong coaching mentoring and leadership skills
  • Strong oral written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong training program development and delivery skills
  • Strong word processing spreadsheet database and presentation software skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Strong creative problem solving skills
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers principals and parents
  • Ability to design workflow and procedures
  • Ability to implement continuous improvement processes
