The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) envision a more equitable world where trees in all landscapes from drylands to the humid tropics enhance the environment and well-being for all. CIFOR and ICRAF are non-profit science institutions that build and apply evidence to today s most pressing challenges including energy insecurity and the climate and biodiversity crises. Over a combined total of 65 years we have built vast knowledge on forests and trees outside of forests in agricultural landscapes (agroforestry). Using a multidisciplinary approach we seek to improve lives and to protect and restore ecosystems. Our work focuses on innovative research partnering for impact and engaging with stakeholders on policies and practices to benefit people and the planet. The FACT (Forest Agriculture and Commodity Trade) Dialogue aims to accelerate the transition towards more sustainable land-use practices in a way that opens up new opportunities for investment for jobs and livelihoods in forests land use and agriculture and to ensure that the economies which have a sustainable relationship with forests are the ones that thrive and grow. The FACT Dialogue is to be a government-to-government forum supported by multi-stakeholder consultation that aims to enhance the policy environment for the international trade in sustainably produced commodities that promote development and protect nature. The FACT Dialogue convenes governments from countries producing and consuming agricultural and forestry commodities for collaborative dialogue to deepen cooperation on policy measures and best practices that promote trade in sustainably produced commodities.




Based in Rome Italy and under the supervision of the Senior Scientist the Coordinator will be the main point of contact to deliver the strategic vision of the FACT Dialogue. The incumbent will be responsible for relationship management with funding partners other key stakeholders in the FACT Dialogue Secretariat and oversee quality assurance and timely project delivery. The Coordinator II serves as the spokesperson of the FACT Dialogue Secretariat internally and externally will drive implementation of the project plan and ensure that additional requests from stakeholders related to the FACT Dialogue secretariat will be handled appropriately. The incumbent will coordinate information sharing paper production government engagement and other vital issues in the project. This person will be responsible for project oversight day-to-day administrative issues monitoring delivery and deadlines and maintaining project schedules ensuring that milestones and deadlines are met.





Requirements


Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field (e.g. Business Administration Project Management).
  • Previous relevant professional experience (preferably a minimum of 5 years) in successfully managing complex global projects.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Proven experience in support of global projects on sustainability trade deforestation or climate change
  • A deep understanding of and commitment to the work of the FACT Dialogue and understanding of broader developments on commodity related sustainability issues.
  • Previous relevant professional experience as a project coordinator or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge and experience in project global communication (social media website newsletters etc.)
  • Proficiency in English language both written and oral with Portuguese/Spanish fluency being an advantageous additional asset.
  • Well-developed teamwork interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrating courtesy tact and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people from various cultural and national backgrounds.

Terms of employment

This is a nationally recruited position based in Rome (Italy) open only to internal candidates namely: regular staff members complementary staff members and individuals who are currently employed or have completed a contract with Bioversity in the last 6 months. The position BG7 level on a scale of 14 levels with level 14 being the highest and the salary range starts from Euro 47640. The remuneration package includes a competitive salary leave provisions medical and life insurance and non-contributory retirement plan. The contract will be for a period of 1 year subject to a probationary period of 6 months and is renewable subject to performance project needs and availability of funds.

  • Be Italian nationals holding a valid passport or identity card.
  • Or be EU citizens holding a valid passport or identity card and confirmation of registration from the Registrar s Office (Anagrafe).
