Cashier - Food Service

The Cashier is responsible for the operation of the cash register during cafeteria meal hours and coffee hours and to keep proper accounting of cash. Responsible for posting menus as necessary preparing coffee filling plastic ware condiments and disposables restocking various items ensuring the work area and cafeteria is clean and neat per the sanitation procedures and cleaning various equipment as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

• Must be able to interpret and apply simple instructions.

Experience:

• 1 year of food service experience preferred.
• Prior experience operating a cash register and handling cash required.
• Certification: Serve Safe Certification preferred.
• Must be proficient in math customer service oriented and ability to multitask.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

• Responsible for the operation of the cash register during cafeteria meal hours and coffee hours and to keep proper accounting of cash.
• Greet customers total up orders take cash from customers.
• Request change from Security as needed.
• Balance cash drawer at the end of the shift and report cash variances.
• Post menus as necessary.
• Prepare coffee restock plastic ware condiments and disposables restock various items ensure the cafeteria is clean and neat per sanitation procedures.
• Set up coffee carts accurately for Hospital scheduled meetings.
• Ensure food trays are available.
• Operate and keep work equipment/utensils in proper operating function to provide a quality product with optimal safety and report any issues to the supervisor.
• Accomplish the days tasks as set forth by the position policies and procedures.
• Provide on the job training to new employees.
• Complete required training as assigned.
• Responds promptly to customer requests provide excellent customer service and collaborates with other departments throughout the organization.
• Adhere to patient privacy policies and procedures maintain confidentiality.
• Additional duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• The position can be in or out of doors under normal working conditions. Should be able to push/pull lift/move 35 lb. be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard writing and filing for extended periods of time must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance. Communication requirements include the ability to comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to communicate and read the English language.

Salary Range: $15.92-20.87/hour Pay is based on experience skills and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
