Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Havering to assist with the appointment of a Senior Public Protection Officer on a 5.5-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 43.00 - 58.97 per hour

Summary:

The Senior Public Protection Officer plays a pivotal role in delivering a high-quality customer-focused enforcement service across the Public Protection domain. This position entails leading on compliance enforcement and specialist project work while serving as a technical expert within defined areas. The post holder will support the management team in ensuring effective efficient and collaborative service delivery through robust project and performance management.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage compliance enforcement and project work within the Public Protection Service.
  • Act as technical lead in specified areas of expertise maintaining up-to-date knowledge and ensuring services operate within legal frameworks.
  • Support the Public Protection Management Team in continuous service improvement and efficient operations.
  • Deliver high-quality casework management and ensure positive customer outcomes.
  • Represent the service in meetings with members committees forums and external agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Degree diploma or equivalent academic/professional qualification.

Essentials:

  • Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary enforcement programmes.
  • Strong background in diverse Public Protection Services.
  • Track record of working with elected members stakeholders and the public.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools and digital work environments (e.g. GIS mobile tools).
  • Experience with procurement and record-keeping for audit compliance.
  • Engagement in council committees and policy groups.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and transformation initiatives.
  • Experience with cross-authority and partnership work.
