Job Description

Salary/Position Classification

  • $4738 contract Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 4-8 hours per week
  • 100% Remote Work Availability: No
  • Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): No

Purpose of Position

This position is in the College of Arts & Sciences Communication course is an asynchronous online course to be taught in fall 2025. Preferred candidates will have an extensive background in journalism and/or public relations in a variety of contexts.

Duties & Responsibilities

Course instruction of Communication 246: News Writing Fundamentals in the Online World (3 credits) in an asynchronous online course format in fall 2025.

Required Competencies

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including evidence of the ability to teach inspire and mentor students
  • Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty staff and students
  • Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues
  • Ability to utilize current methods of online course delivery including use of Blackboard LMS

Minimum Requirements

  • MA/MS in Communication or related discipline OR at least 10 years of professional experience in sports journalism
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Track record of education mentoring and/or professional experience related to journalism and/or public relations.
  • Experience teaching online undergraduate courses.
