The Sr. Controls Service Technician is responsible for the preventive maintenance troubleshooting repair and performance analysis of building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC control systems. This role includes programming DDC controls executing service projects and acting as a liaison between customers internal teams and electrical contractors. The technician ensures reliable system performance and delivers timely detailed documentation for all service activities.
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance including database backups control system analysis network diagnostics and system optimization.
Execute service projects as quoted ensuring all deliverables meet customer expectations and quality standards.
Troubleshoot DDC controls and mechanical/HVAC systems to identify and resolve performance issues.
Replace failed or degraded components ensuring minimal downtime for building systems.
Communicate consistently with supervisors service coordinators account managers and customers regarding project status and system issues.
Provide on-site customer training on control system functionality and performance.
Participate in on-call rotations to support emergency service needs.
Strong knowledge of HVAC DDC control theory and applications.
Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting systems such as Alerton Distech Delta Niagara or Tridium.
Solid understanding of electronics and electrical circuit fundamentals.
Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities for both mechanical and control systems.
Competency with computer hardware software and networked control systems.
Ability to work independently in field environments without supervision.
Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
Associate degree in Applied Technology or equivalent experience.
Proven experience in HVAC and mechanical system service.
Background in computer programming related to building automation.
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with BACnet-based controls.
Experience working in high-reliability environments is a plus.
