ResponsibilitiesGeneric responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and lead implementation of Education projects.
- Actively take part in the development of the project budget in coordination with the Education Project Manager and other CCs.
- Provide regular progress reports to the Education Project Manager.
- Coordinate liaison and collaboration with relevant local authorities partners and other key stakeholders.
- Promote team collaboration and identify synchronization opportunities across CCs.
- Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.
- Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards & principles within NRC and amongst beneficiaries served by NRC.
- Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection and explore and assess new and better ways to assist while promoting the rights of Ukrainian displaced people in line with the advocacy strategy.
Specific responsibilities:
- Coordinate Education project implementation (EiE activities procurement and project documentation) in line with proposals strategies and donor requirements.
- In coordination with Education Project Manager to coordinate the scale up the Education response at the Area level under the technical guidance of the Education Specialist.
- Coordinate NRC Education activities including but not limited by BLP trainings school repairs/rehabilitation (cash or contractor modality) support and youth projects directly and through local partners in line with NRC quality standards.
- Line manage and ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills. Adherence to NRC policies guidance and procedures.
- Coordinate procurement processes related to Education activities.
- Ensure effective filing systems for project documentation both electronic and paper.
- Coordinate monitoring tracking and reporting of education projects inside NRC and on cluster levels ensuring M&E compliance.
- Maintain efficient positive work relations with local authorities partners and other key stakeholders.
- Identify new opportunities for partnership and develop a pool of prospective partners.
- Promote program quality and implementation of NRCs Safe and Inclusive Schools Programme guaranteeing gender and protection mainstreaming and safe and inclusive programming criteria.
- Serve as acting Education Project Manager in the absence of the Education Project Manager.
QualificationsProfessional competencies
These are skills knowledge and experience that are important for effective performance.
Generic professional competencies for this position:
- Experience working in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts; ability to remain calm and professional in tense situations
- Minimum 3 year of relevant experience within the field of expertise (Education social services including psychosocial support/psychology or other relevant fields)
- Co-ordinational/managerial experience
- Knowledge of Project Management Cycle
- Documented technical competencies related to the positions responsibilities.
- Technical-specific knowledge of the humanitarian sector is an asset.
Context related skills knowledge and experience:
- Experience in conducting training for adults (Teacher training/ Training of trainers is an asset) or similar experience
- Knowledge of the basics of child protection and/or psychosocial support
- Knowledge of the education system in Ukraine
- Working knowledge of English both written and verbal
- Fluent in Ukrainian. Knowledge of the Russian language is an asset.
