HOPE has been a provider of community services in Western Australia for over 120 years providing much needed support for people in the areas of alcohol and other drugs mental health justice and family and domestic violence.
About the Opportunity
The roles primary function is to liaise and work with a wide range of government and non-government agencies professionals and community groups to progress community action on alcohol and other drug (AOD) prevention initiative. Responsibilities will include:
- In collaboration with the Mental Health Commission (MHC) and other stakeholders take a lead role in development implementation and evaluation of evidence-based prevention strategies to reduce and prevent AOD related harms at a local and regional level.
- Represent the PCADS (Pilbara/Kimberley Community alcohol and other drugs service) at forums/meetings as required by Prevention Coordinator.
- Lead development/review and implementation of Alcohol and Other Drug Management Plans/Volatile substance use plans or equivalent where appropriate.
- Work with the Prevention Coordinator and HOPEs PR Manager to develop educational and promotional strategies campaigns and publications for AOD prevention activities.

- Experience in or demonstrated ability to develop implement manage and evaluate alcohol and other drug prevention initiatives.
- High level of written communication skills including report writing.
- High level of interpersonal and verbal communication skills including negotiation skills and the ability to liaise with people in a variety of contexts.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training to professionals and community groups.
- Knowledge of the impacts of drugs and alcohol on individuals families and communities.
- An understanding of and adherence to working within personal and professional boundaries.
- Excellent administrative and computer skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Confidence in managing difficult situations.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable criteria:

Appointments will be subject to Australian residency/visa satisfactory National Police check (within 3 months) Working With Children card Current C or A class drivers license and suitable work referees.
