Job Description

The Senior Director of Operations oversees the operational departments (Program Management Engineering Supply Chain and Assembly) who assume responsibility for all project operational execution activities with regard to quality first schedule second and budget thirdly from pre-PO through full completion of the project gates and transition to the Customer Service Team.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Customer satisfaction - Zero lost opportunities due to customer dissatisfaction divisional reputation or past performance.
  • Project on-time delivery Relentless pursuit of timely project completion to ensure customer expectations are met and exceeded.
  • Financial performance - Achieve approved fiscal plan (bookings revenue EBIT cash)
  • Employee development - Individual development plans for each report require a minimum of 12 documented interactions with report per fiscal year.
  • 100% governance and compliance
    • Corporate policies
    • Health and safety policies
    • International Organization for Standardization (ISO) procedures

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the Directors assigned to the departments within the Operations departments and hold them accountable to their respective job responsibilities.
  • Develop and execute proactive risk management.
  • Build an active network with local universities for talent acquisition to assure a strategic life cycle for career advancement is backfilled with new candidates from local universities.
  • Oversee department managers and department objectives for all operational teams assigned to this role.
  • Develop and execute to the ATS Business Model strive for continuous improvement in tools practices quality and lead time within all aspects of execution and processes.
  • Support leadership team local and corporate with all transfer of resources or technology requests resource development team development and a robust reliable voice for the business to count on with transparent ethical and direct interaction.
  • Identify all weaknesses and issues to the director team in transparent manner for business to address in a proactive manner through risk management.
  • Oversight of all capacity and resource loading including approving overtime to budgets temp. staff and permanent hiring approvals.
  • Drive apprentice and university recruiting with specific focus on building an internal promotion environment from technical colleges through senior management.
  • ISO and health safety and environment (HSE) complete management of all systems audits continuous improvement conformance and reporting as well as corrective actions where applicable. Assure 100% compliance with training on time for all employees.
  • Support customer dialog in the production of new quotes.
  • Technical liaison with other ATS divisions

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelors degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in an engineering and operational leadership role with multi-discipline reports (medical or pharmaceutical automation preferred).
  • Strong computer-aided design (CAD) proficiency leadership team development resource management and continuous improvement skills required.
  • Knowledge of computer programs such as SolidWorks PLM software EPlan Microsoft Office suite and ERP systems (JD Edwards).
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication and assembly machinery including inspection tools.
  • Strong background in lean continuous improvement and various certifications a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee may be required to stand walk push pull reach overhead and bend to the floor.
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
  • Visual acuity Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens.
  • Hearing ability Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions.
  • Working conditions The employee is subject to a normal office environment with occasional exposure to high noise levels and/or physical hazards when visiting the manufacturing floor.
  • Capable of wearing appropriate related PPE for extended periods of time.
