Overview: The Phaco Surgeon Consultant plays a critical role in the healthcare continuum specializing in cataract surgery and contributing to the vision health of patients. Based in Hospet Karnataka this position requires a highly skilled ophthalmologist with a focus on Phacoemulsification. The consultant will be responsible for diagnosing and treating a comprehensive range of ocular conditions particularly those related to cataracts. In this capacity the surgeon will leverage advanced surgical techniques and technologies to deliver high-quality patient-centered care. The importance of this role extends beyond merely performing surgeries; it includes educating patients about their conditions and facilitating a seamless surgical experience. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with a dedicated healthcare team to enhance patient outcomes improve safety protocols and innovate surgical procedures. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform phacoemulsification surgeries with precision and care.
- Assess and diagnose patients with cataracts and other ocular conditions.
- Perform pre-operative evaluations including visual acuity and ocular examinations.
- Develop tailored surgical plans based on individual patient needs.
- Utilize advanced surgical technologies to ensure best practices.
- Monitor and manage post-surgical recovery and complications.
- Collaborate with the medical team to enhance clinical protocols.
- Engage in continuous medical education to stay updated on advancements.
- Participate in outreach programs to promote eye care awareness.
- Document all patient interactions surgical procedures and outcomes accurately.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Provide counseling and education to patients and their families.
- Mentor and train junior ophthalmologists and medical staff.
- Participate in research activities to advance ophthalmic practices.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the hospital.
- Act as a consultant for complex surgical cases.
Required Qualifications:
- MBBS degree from a recognized medical college.
- MS/DO/DNB in Ophthalmology.
- State medical license to practice in Karnataka.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in ophthalmic surgery.
- Demonstrated proficiency in cataract surgery techniques.
- Strong understanding of ocular anatomy and pathology.
- Experience with advanced phacoemulsification equipment.
- Ability to manage complex patient cases independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and safety.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Proactive in continuing medical education and certifications.
- Experience in mentoring and training medical staff.
- Good organizational and time management abilities.
