  • St. Joseph Catholic School in Vancouver WA is seeking a full time learning resource teacher beginning the 2025-26 school year. At St. Joseph we value faith service and academic excellence.

    Main Responsibilities:
    Work with Learning Resource Team and general education teachers to assess and identify students who may need additional reading support outside of classroom instruction (B M E of year)
    Assist Learning Resource Coordinator in inputting assessment data in computer system.
    Circulate data to teachers and compare/contrast how this coordinates with their findings
    Reach out to teachers shortly after assessments are administered to come up with lists of students needing additional support that coordinate with findings in assessments (B M E of year)
    Email parents and send home permission forms (B of year or as students are added)
    Communicate with parents regarding specific student struggles as necessary
    Communicate with teachers regarding specific student observations and struggles as necessary
    Attend any parent-teacher conference in which parents teachers administrators or Learning Resource Coordinator feel may need additional support related to reading information
    Keep relevant data files on all students
    This can include but not limited to: written assessments IMSE assessments oral reading logs notes on students pictures of work (printed and filed) etc.
    Create a narrative insert for report cards for all students and email to Learning Resource Coordinator at least 3 days prior to report card due date. Learning Resource Coordinator will reach out with specific dates (report card times)
    Using materials provided by IMSE after general assessments are administered and when groups have been established from each grade level conduct a basic assessment of where students fit into IMSE learning materials in grades 1-3 (B of year)
    Conduct grade level groups based on specific need for grades 1-3 focusing on Orton-Gilligham based phonics intervention (as taught using materials from IMSE) (all year based on schedule)
    Conduct grade level groups for reading/spelling interventions for grades 4-5 as needed. This will be necessary for grade 4 but grade 5 may wait until after initial MAP assessments.
    Use teacher-provided materials such as spelling lists stories being read. Check in with teachers at the beginning of the week to find out what materials are being used. Try to keep students on track with the class using these materials.
    There are several students in grades 6-8 who may benefit from materials being read to them or giving them recorded materials (platform TBD)
    Conduct grades 4-8 writing groups when students are identified by teachers as needing help. This could be a scheduled time for each grade in which they come and work on their writing with support or it could be an as needed during specific class periods.
    If/when a teacher needs support in writing in the classroom attend the specific class if it coordinates with your schedule. Please be sure to stick to what the teacher asks of you and help with specific skills that are the focus of the lesson. We are there in a non-evaluative capacity in regards to the teacher but please share an student observations with the teacher that may aid in helping students
    If teacher requests and based on needs assist Learning Resource Coordinator in modifying spelling lists for any student in grades 1-4 (or others if they plan to have weekly spelling lists)
    Attend daily lunch/recess duties as assigned by school administration
    Attend weekly Learning Resource Team meetings
    When new students visit help with assessments as needed
    Additional responsibilities as needed
    Additional responsibilities as indicated by administrators

    This candidate must hold a current Washington State Teaching Credential and meet Archdiocesan Safe Environment Standards.

    Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity internal salary ranges market data applicants skills and prior relevant experience degrees and certifications. The budgeted salary range is $45000- $65 000. A comprehensive package of benefits is offered including two medical plan options dental vision life accidental death and disability pension 403(B) HSA FSA and generous sick leave vacation and holidays.
