Our Lady of Hope Church in Dundalk Maryland seeks energetic and engaging candidates for the position of Coordinator of Faith Formation. The Coordinator of Faith Formation coordinates the faith formation for children adults and families as well as coordinating the parish family ministries. The Coordinator of Faith Formation is responsible for administering/overseeing catechetical programs for children and adults: Family Faith Formation Childrens Liturgy of the Word Sacramental Preparation (First Reconciliation First Communion Confirmation and Confirmation Pilot Order of Christian Initiation of Children and Order of Christian Initiation of Adults). This is a full-time 30-hour weekly position with benefits and exempt from overtime that include days evenings/weekends as needed by the Pastor.
Essential Functions:
- Participate and be visibly present at parish liturgies and events.
- Produce and implement yearly Family Faith Formation calendar and program activities.
- Connect and effectively communicate with families on a regular basis regarding parish faith
formation programs and activities. - Facilitate recruitment and training of catechists and volunteers for all family faith formation programs.
- Participate in ongoing training meetings evaluations and seek feedback from the staff catechists and parents to update programs.
- Evaluate and supervise the curriculum for Religious Education/ Faith formation.
- Oversee sacramental catechesis for the children and all aspects of that formation program.
- Implement family catechesis program to engage parents in the formation programs.
- Plan and implement Childrens Liturgy of the Word.
- Select curriculum and perform all administrative tasks related to faith formation programs such as communicating with parents registration of children keeping volunteer records and ensuring compliance with all child protection and archdiocesan policies.
- Organize and supervise Confirmation and Confirmation Pilot programs.
- Make periodic visits to the Our Lady of Hope/St Luke School and build relationships with students parents teachers and administrators.
- Plan and coordinate family centered activities and events.
- Annual preparation of and responsible management of a budget for all income and expenses related to the Parish Religious Education Program.
- Attendance at staff meetings team meetings and Archdiocese meetings and gatherings.
Position Qualifications:
- Practicing Roman Catholic fully able to participate in the sacramental life of the Church.
- Bachelors degree in Theology Religious Education or related field preferred but not required.
- Relevant work experience in Religious Education and Youth Ministry as a leader teacher or volunteer will be highly considered.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as organization time management prioritization skills.
- Interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to work effectively with children and parents other staff members parish volunteers and parish young adults.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of social media platforms that work with parents and families.
- Must have the ability to honor and maintain confidentiality in ALL matters and protect personal records of parishioners and staff.
- Ability to work evenings and weekend hours.
- Ability and willingness to learn new skills if needed.
- Ability to pursue further education and formation as recommended by the Pastor.
Range: $23.00 - 27.00 Hourly
