What Youll Do:
As a Prepress Artist you will electronically prepare art primarily for cut vinyl production and also for screen print in order to meet specifications ensuring customer and company goals are met.
Your Accountabilities in the Role:
- Receives customer and in-house designs to create files based off customer/production specifications while maintaining the integrity of the schedule.
- Determines size arrangement or image changes of the client artwork to assure proper fit on finished product.
- Creates conceptual proofs and production blueprints to receive customer and company approval.
- Prepares a scale proof and presents the sample for customer approval.
- Communicates effectively with other departments within the Company in order to successfully complete jobs based upon client/production needs.
- Operates production machines such as plotters lasers routers and Gerber printers in an efficient manner to create accurate files.
- Keeps Proto area organized by boxing and labeling completed jobs and notifies Prepress Lead and Art Director/Art Coordinator when jobs are completed to ensure proper workflow.
- Collaborates and communicates with Sales and other departments to ensure projects meet Customer and Business expectations.
- Reviews prepress area processes and recommends enhancements to procedures to be more efficient.
- Maintains electronic files and archives of all computer created graphics for accurate record keeping.
Position Requirements:
- Education: Associates Degree in Graphic Design or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Experience: 6 months to 1 year of related experience in a printing and/or vinyl graphic production environment preferred.
- Certification(s): N/A
- Functional Skills: Solid working knowledge of art layouts and basic mathematics functions. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations and printing jobs. Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions while using common sense. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of computer instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Solid prioritization planning organizational skills and attention to detail are also required.
- Technology Aptitude/Skills: Knowledge of both PC and MAC based computer programs. Must be fluent in Adobe Creative Suite products including Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Language Skills: Solid verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from those within and outside the organization.
- Leadership/Behaviors: Strong work ethic energy level pace and values; strong focus on the customer quality and accuracy with the ability to be collaborative and the flexibility to move to priorities throughout the operation areas following all safety requirements. Ability to be creative and conceptual to meet specifications.

Pay/Salary: Hourly position based on skills

Reports To: Art Director
Core Hours: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Typical Work Week: M-F; 40 - 45 hours a week on average during peak times.
