This position is located at:
11 W. Jones St.Raleigh NC 27601Primary Purpose of Positions:
These positions will serve as the regional liaison and principal regional contact for NC Land and Water Fund in the
respective regions within North Carolina. Field Representatives will work with local and state agencies and non-profit
organizations to provide outreach and guidance for development of grant applications as well as field review of
application project sites. The position also participates in application evaluation and final presentations to the
NCLWF Board of Trustees. The Eastern Region Field Representative generally covers areas from the coast to Durham.
The Central Field Representative covers areas from Durham to the Blue Ridge escarpment and northwest high-
country counties.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Outreach and guidance for local and state agencies and non-profit organizations on development of grant applications and project scopes.
- Detailed field and desktop review and evaluation of annual grant applications.
- Coordination of project details and issue management using NCLWFs advanced project management applications.
- Development and presentation of project overview summaries to the NCLWF Board of Trustees.
- Applicant and grantee contact during pre-contract portions of the project lifecycle.
- Supporting NCLWF Program Administrators in project monitoring close-out site visits final project evaluation and other special projects as needed.
Position/Physical Requirements:
- Must be available to work Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm.
- Must have a valid drivers license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
- Must have the ability to frequently traverse long distances over rough terrain often in remote and challenging
environments and less-than-ideal weather conditions with or without reasonable accommodations. - Must be available for frequent travel throughout the assigned region with some overnight in-state travel.
Skills and Abilities / CompetenciesTo receive credit for your work history and credentials you must provide the information on the application form. Qualified candidates must have or be able to:
Demonstrated experience in the field of land conservation OR stream and/or wetland restoration.
Proficiency with business application solutions such as MS Office365 (Word Excel PowerPoint) Google Office Sharepoint Airtable or other cloud-based data management applications.
Demonstrated experience with public presentations and community engagement.
Management Prefers:
Significant experience in the areas of natural resource management conservation real estate and/or stream restoration.
Specific knowledge on current practices and programs related to land conservation natural area management and conservation funding in North Carolina.
Experience with grant development and administration.
Experience with landowner or client interaction in a conservation setting.
Experience with ArcGIS or similar mapping software.

Section/Unit Description:
The North Carolina Land and Water Fund (NCLWF) provides grant assistance to non-profits local governments and
state agencies for the protection of natural resources in North Carolina. NCLWF funds projects that (1) enhance or
restore degraded waters (2) protect unpolluted waters and/or (3) contribute toward a network of riparian buffers
and greenways for environmental educational and recreational benefits (4) provide buffers around military bases to
protect the military mission (5) acquire land that represents the ecological diversity of North Carolina and (6) acquire
land that contributes to the development of a balanced State program of historic properties.
The North Carolina Land and Water Fund Stewardship Program is primarily responsible for monitoring NCLWF-held
conservation agreements across North Carolina.
Division Description:
The Division of Land and Water Stewardship is a non-regulatory division within DNCR that provides information and
assistance to support effective conservation. The office is an integral part of the states conservation efforts and
seeks to maintain a positive relationship with communities through partnerships with local state and federal
agencies industries organizations and private citizens.

Veterans and National Guard Preference
