Job Description

Description of Work

This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job. OSHR supports the Governors Job Ready initiative and seeks to expand a temporarys skill set to enhance their qualifications for State government and private sector jobs. Exposure to an agencys culture process procedures and potential learning opportunities can provide valuable experience to those who may seek permanent employment with the state.

This temporary position is located in Raleigh NC - Wake County. There are two vacancies for this position.

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $25.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Adult Correction (DAC). This position is located at 1034 Bragg Street Raleigh NC 27610.

Reporting to the Human Services Facility Director this position is responsible for maintaining and overseeing and reporting of financial accounting data and processing activities related to the Healthcare Facility.

Job Responsibilities include; but are not limited to the following:
Maintain accounting records on separate accounts receivable/payable.
Handling fiscal and financial operations of the respective work unit and involvement in the budget process.
Analyze data for accuracy.
Interpreting policy and procedure.
Reconciling data and ensuring overall accuracy.
Coordinating and/or making recommendations for procedural changes as needed.
Ability to coordinate and administer fiscal program activities and protocols.
Ability to manage resources monitor activities and assess risks and quality control associated with the program.
Ability to prepare documentation and create financial reports.
Ability to identify problems determine possible solutions and actively work to resolve the issues.
Ability to communicate information to individuals or groups and deliver presentations suited to the characteristics and needs of the audience.
Ability to clearly and concisely convey information orally or in writing to individuals or groups to ensure that they understand the information and the message.
Ability to remain current in developments and trends in the area of assignment.
Ability to observe monitor collect and record fiscal data.
Ability to assess the accuracy validity and integrity of data.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Graduation from high school including or supplemented by basic courses in bookkeeping or accounting and three years experience in bookkeeping or accounting clerical work in an accounting office; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Completion of one or two year business course in an accredited community college or business school including or supplemented by basic courses in bookkeeping or accounting may be substituted for two and three years of the required experience respectively.)
