Job Description

The Vice President Mission Advancement:

  • Identify strategic customer service access and admission alliances to position Empath Health for the future of the ever-changing health care industry.
  • Be lead contact for access escalation 24/7.
  • Lead department from initial call to successful admission with proven average annual statistics.
  • Access regularly all service opportunities consistent with Empath Healths mission vision strategic and access goals to maximize the customer experience.
  • Represent the Admissions department in decision-making while creating all related Policies/Procedures to ensure quality integrity compliance customer focus at all times.
  • Initiate develop implement evaluate and staff areas of responsibility to ensure rapid response while ensuring optimum compliance to regulatory standards always keeping the patient/family needs at the forefront.
  • Provide leadership to Business Development Directors which includes managing training coaching and providing overall guidance to the Business Development team of an assigned territory
  • Accountable for the business development support budget and working in conjunction with leadership to assign goals and targets to be achieved by the Business Development team.
  • Lead business development change initiatives and remove obstacles impeding constructive organizational change.
  • Establish and maintain productive peer to peer relationships with customers and prospects.
  • Promotes and practices the Empath Health vison mission and values.
  • Leads and develops a high performing team through mentoring coaching and feedback.
  • Leads guides and manages the Admissions and Business Development Department teams to meet and exceed the global organizational goals related to ADC LOS referrals and admissions while operating within budget. Facilitates ease of access to all Hospice programs/services and high-quality customer experience.
  • Pursues new referral sources to include relationship/contract opportunities with managed care companies HMOs hospitals extended care facilities other healthcare organizations and corporations.
  • Develop implement and monitor annual budget in collaboration with Finance Department.
  • Monitor monthly financial statements to ensure budgetary compliance.
  • Work directly with Director of Reimbursement to ensure proper financial classifications of new admissions within compliance guidelines.
  • Possesses strong financial acumen with a high level of key financial indicators. Can create and evaluate programmatic options and opportunities.
  • Align the Hospice Programs daily work with the strategic direction of the agency.
  • Lead department planning for annual goals contributing to the Strategic Plan of the agency.
  • Actively participate in agency planning efforts to exceed the needs of the community.
  • Other duties as needed.

Position Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelors degree in related field preferably in Nursing Business Administration or Marketing. Masters degree preferred.
  • Experience: years and type: A minimum of three ten (10) years experiences successfully leading and developing individuals and teams preferably at the VP level. Teams include Health Care Admissions Business Development/Sales Marketing and Public Relations. Extensive understanding of hospice philosophy mission goals and best practice. Leadership experience in health care setting strongly preferred.
  • Licensure: Current FL RN (for Nursing Degree only) with continuing education: Per FL RN licensure specifications.
  • Licensure: Current clear and active FL drivers license. This position requires travel between locations within the community and other Empath Health locations as needed.
  • Extensive understanding and experience leading admissions clinical and support staff.
  • In-depth knowledge of selling strategies and methods as well as employee motivation techniques.
  • Colleagues must sign a Business Protection Agreement.
