Salary:25000 per annum pro rata which equates to 20270

Location:Shrewsbury

Contract/Hours:Permanent part time (working 30 hours a week)

About the service

Shropshire Community Short Breaks provides Community Short Breaks to families with children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years with disabilities. We currently support up to 200 children and young people.

Our service has different offerings during term time and school holidays.

During term time we run:

After School Clubs offering 3 hours sessions (usually 3-6pm Monday to Thursday) in Shrewsbury.

Saturday Morning Youth Club offering 3 hours sessions (usually 9.30am 12.30pm) in Shrewsbury.

During school holidays we run:

Holiday Club offering all-day sessions (usually 9.30am 3.30pm) 4 days a week in Shrewsbury.

In addition we also offer an Outreach Service all year round covering the whole of Shropshire.

How youll help to create brighter futures

As a Community Short Breaks Practitioner your role is to co-ordinate and direct the support of children young people and families by agreeing interventions which enable positive and agreed outcomes to be achieved. You will help do this by:

  • Leading a team to support children and young people with disabilities to reach their potential
  • Planning and organising a range of groups and activities to help children and young people grow
  • Supporting those in our care to access a range of stimulating experiences
  • Holding conversations with families and /or carers to update Risk Assessments
  • Dealing with new referrals
  • Supervision of staff.

Lets talk about you

Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge We are looking for someone with a can do attitude to join our team. As a Community Short Breaks Practitioner ideally you will have:

  • A Diploma Level 3 in working with children or similar is desirable
  • Experience of working with children (essential) with disabilities (desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail with strong organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines
  • The ability to think of new and fun ways to engage those in our care
  • The ability to drive. The job requires the ability to travel according to the needs of the job with reasonable adjustments if required according to the Equality Act.
