Duties:
The Distribution and Collection Operator (Non-certified Class 1) will report to the Supervisor Distribution and Collection. The Distribution and Collection Operator (Non-certified Class 1) will assist the Distribution and Collection Operator (Class 2 - Class 3) and Distribution and Collection Operator (Class 4) in daily tasks. The Distribution and Collection Operator (Non-certified Class 1) will be responsible for the inspections testing and repairing of Water and Wastewater attributes including but not limited to Fire hydrants Valves Meters Lift stations & pumps catch basins and vault casings.
Duties:
Perform water meter accuracy checks reads trouble shoot customer metering complaints and provide field repairs as required.
Install water meters and remote meter reading equipment.
Locate underground water distribution and wastewater collection assets.
Perform water connects/disconnects.
Maintain records and update water distribution and Wastewater collection system records (computerized and manual) including field reports daily logs equipment checks and service records.
Investigate and assess leaks flooding and service backups and initiate corrective actions and/or emergency action as required.
Coordinate with developers contractors regional customers trades people and homeowners to ensure that timely water distribution and wastewater collection services are in place.
Collect water samples from both the water distribution and wastewater collection system. Submit samples and record data. Test distribution samples for chlorine turbidity or other parameters as required.
Effectively respond to and investigate customer service inquiries for both water and wastewater collection attributes.
Cleaning Steaming and Thawing of Water and Wastewater attributes including but not limited to; Catch basins curb stops sanitary laterals vaults.
Assisting hydrovac operators with water wand and vac piping
Lift station inspection operation and maintenance.
Perform sanitary sewer auger and cameras on private lateral services to clear debris and blockages.
Traffic control and lifting vault covers.
Carry out inspections and maintenance as well as routine operation tasks within Lloydminsters Neale Edmunds storm water complex including:
Inspections of beaver grates and channels and carrying out any necessary repairs.
Control of water flow and levels within the storm water complex using stop logs at control structures.
Perform maintenance on beaver grates and channels such as removal of debris and steaming/thawing.
Carry out the installation and removal of beaver grates as needed.
Participate in and support all health and safety programs and initiatives such as inspections meetings hazard assessments incident tracking emergency drills and other procedures and guidelines including those of Occupations Health and Safety.
Support provide input and participate with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and other safety initiatives.
Assist the Distribution and Collection Operator (Class 2 Class 3) and Distribution and Collection Operator (Class 4) when required.
Other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
Enrollment in post-secondary for: Environmental Sciences Water and Wastewater Technician Water Treatment Technology would be considered an asset.
Must possess a valid Class 5 Operators License (registered in Alberta or Saskatchewan) with a clear driving record.
Must have grade 12 education.
Saskatchewan Water Distribution Operator Class 1 or Wastewater Collection Operator Class 1 certification or equivalent is an asset.
Understanding of technology such as computers and tablets.
Ability to understand interpret as-builts and drawings in Water and Wastewater field.
A valid Class 3 Operators License (registered in Alberta or Saskatchewan) with a clear driving record is an asset.
Completion of a post-secondary Water and Wastewater Technician program or a program in a related field would be considered an asset.
Work conditions may include: fast paced environment physically demanding must be able to lift up to 25kg (50 lbs) and be able to work at heights (ladder use)
This position is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal record check prior to start date.
Preference will be given to students.
Schedule:
Normal working hours for this position are Monday to Friday 8:00 am 4:30 pm with the occasional requirement to work outside these hours.
