Job Description
0.800 FTE Technology Education Teacher
Shuswap Middle School
This is a continuing assignment effective September 1 2025.
The assignment consists of teaching Woodshop 6-8. This position is to be worked Monday to Thursdays
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education (Industrial Technology major or completion of technical training or vocational instructor certificate) preferred;
- Red Seal or Certificate of Qualification issued or recognized by the Industry Training Authority preferred;
- Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch.
Teachers applying should possess the following attributes:
- academic credentials and/or experience in Woodwork;
- a working knowledge of the current curriculum at the Middle School level;
- demonstrated successful experience teaching at the Middle School level;
- experience teaching a classroom of diverse learners and ability to differentiate instruction based on student needs;
- an understanding of and excitement for the challenges that accompany working and learning within a Self Directed Learning environment;
- excellent classroom management skills;
- committed to stimulating student interest and confidence in learning;
- evidence of ability to motivate secondary students;
- excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment with other staff members;
- commitment to involving parents in the learning of their children.
