Job Description

Provides leadership and supervision to all homeless program staff members within the Department of Family Services. The Manager of Homeless and Housing Stability Services provides direct supervision to other case managers and student interns serving participants in rapid re-housing homelessness prevention permanent supportive housing and special voucher programs (i.e. EHV FUP FYI HUD-VASH etc.). In addition the person in this position assumes some of the administrative responsibilities required of the different programs (i.e. HMIS reporting billing/draw-downs stakeholder meetings etc.).

  1. Works to assure that the mission values and goals of AHA the Department of Family Services and are being actualized by case managers and student interns. 
  2. Assures that all case management is conducted from a context of Trauma Informed Care and a Strengths-Based philosophy with the goal of empowering participants to accomplish their goals and achieve housing stability. 
  3. Makes recommendations to the Director in the hiring firing advancement promotion suspension lay-off reward/discipline of case managers.
  4. Provides one-on-one supervision to all staff case managers and to all BSW/MSW student interns as well as conducts annual and semi-annual reviews.
  5. Performs assigned administrative duties accurately and in a timely fashion for the different case management programs (i.e. monthly reports billing/draw-downs HMIS reports etc.). 
  6. Facilitates regularly scheduled case manager meetings.
  7. With the Director participates in interagency meetings for the Family Unification Program (FUP) Fostering Youth to Independence (FYI) and
  8. With the Manager of ECHO serves as a departmental liaison with other AHA departments and external partner agencies in the absence of the Director.
  9. At minimum audits client files on a semi-annual basis assuring that all appropriate paperwork and documentation is being obtained and retained and that all tracking systems are being used appropriately. Documents the outcomes of each audit and the corrective actions that have been taken and when these actions were taken.
  10. Provides case management for program participants (i.e. conducting intakes and assessments assisting with the housing search and with the leasing up process developing goals and action plans assessing the progress toward these goals and action plans assisting with the development of household budgets advocating assisting with the application for mainstream benefits etc.).
  11. Serve as a liaison and advocate for program participants with community partners and landlords.
  12. Supports staff in building relationships with community providers and supports staff in increasing their knowledge of community resources.
  13. Assists efforts to identify evaluate and secure funding opportunities that support homeless programs aligned with the mission and vision of AHA and the department. Partners with the Director of Family Services to maintain up-to-date knowledge of local state and federal funding streams and conducts strategic assessments to ensure alignment with current and future service initiatives.
  14. Participates in weekly supervision with the Director of Family Services.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

MSW Required

Preferred LCSW. (MSW with substantial hours toward completion for an LCSW acceptable.)

Trained in Motivational Interviewing and Trauma Informed Care.

A minimum of 5 years experience of working with those experiencing homelessness and/or lower income families preferred.

A minimum of 5 years experience of working in a social work or social service field.

A minimum of 2 years of management experience.

Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred.

Excellent organizational time management communication and interpersonal skills including conflict resolution required.

Cooperate well with other team members and AHA staff who interface with participants in the homeless and housing stability programs.

Up to 12 months of on-the-job training to perform the job effectively

Valid Colorado Driver License and Insurance. Must transport participants in own vehicle.
