The Secondary School Music Teacher is responsible for creating a classroom environment that supports the development of students appreciation and understanding of music. They will teach techniques of vocal and instrumental music expression discover and develop students abilities and talents in the field of music and develop knowledge and skills in listening to and reading music. The Music Teacher will demonstrate commitment to our college-going mission by believing in students potential and supporting students learning.

Qualifications :
- Minimum of 1 year of verifiable successful experience working with school music programs
- California teaching credential in music
- Masters degree in music or education preferred
- Experience in working with a diverse student population.
- Spanish-speaking preferred
Skills Knowledge:
- Teach 6th - 12th grade music classes in an engaging developmentally appropriate way aligned to CCSS
- Develop and support a curriculum that provides a balanced approach to music education including singing playing instrumental music creative movement and performance.
- Familiarity with growth mindset project/inquiry-based learning core competencies and authentic assessment
- Proven record of developing clear and highly organized yearlong curriculum maps units and lesson plans tied to goal/objectives and student expectations
- Maintains a safe organized classroom that supports students independent learning collaboration and choice.
- Utilizes a variety of effective instructional and management techniques.
- Provides a variety of assessments and uses assessments for planning and instruction.
- Monitors and maintains a positive classroom environment that supports the school-wide behavior expectations in which students are engaged and incorporates mutual respect while providing cooperative learning opportunities.
- Uses available technology/instructional media to enhance the students learning experiences.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate relationships with students parents staff and community members by communicating in a tactful courteous and confidential manner.
- Appropriately communicates and interacts with other professional staff in academic planning and school committee work.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and extra-curricular/school-related activities and committees.
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional growth and works with administrators to formulate and complete professional development plans.
- Maintains a professional appearance and demonstrates behavior that is conscientious and responsible.

Working Conditions:
- Environment: School environment; fast-paced work constant interruptions.
- Physical requirements: Hearing and speaking to exchange information make presentations and communicate over the telephone; seeing to read prepare and proofread documents and view computer monitors; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment; kneeling bending at the waist and reaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and supplies; lifting light objects; ability to go to sites apart from primary office to conduct business.
Pay Range: $68969.96 - $113824.10. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
