You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Senior Database Administrator (Sr DBA) / Team Lead DBA Infrastructure / Cloud Operations will primarily focus on database administration performance optimization and system stability while also demonstrating leadership skills to guide and support team members. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in database management troubleshooting and automation while contributing to process improvements and mentoring junior DBAs as needed.
Database Administration & Performance Optimization:
Manage maintain and optimize QAD database environments ensuring high availability and performance.
Perform proactive monitoring and tuning of databases to enhance stability and efficiency.
Implement automation and scripting for routine database tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual interventions.
Ensure database backup recovery plans and disaster recovery strategies are in place and tested regularly.
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues conducting root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in database technologies applying best practices to database administration.
Technical Guidance & Collaboration:
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior DBAs and team members.
Act as a point of escalation for complex database-related issues and high-impact incidents.
Work closely with cloud operations and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless database integration and support.
Participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings offering insights and recommendations on database changes and optimizations.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure database strategies align with business goals and operational needs.
Leadership & Process Improvement:
Foster a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment within the DBA team.
Identify areas for process improvement and contribute to the enhancement of database management workflows.
Support the team in meeting service level agreements (SLAs) and operational objectives.
Assist in onboarding training and guiding new team members as needed.
Adjust headcount or allocate additional resources based on workload and business priorities.
Qualifications :
Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field.
Experience: 8 years of database administration experience with exposure to leadership or mentoring responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of Progress Database Administration including best practices and performance tuning.
Experience with Progress OE12 is preferred.
Experience with QAD EE/AUX technology is a plus.
Experience with SQL Server MySQL MariaDB AWS RDS and MongoDB.
Strong skills in Linux and Windows operating systems.
Proficient at scripting with Python Bash or similar languages for automation purposes.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS Azure GCP) is preferred.
Leadership & Communication:
Ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Ability to work efficiently under high-stress conditions and manage multiple priorities
Additional Requirements:
ITIL certification or equivalent experience in service management is preferred.
Experience in ISO audit compliance and process improvement initiatives
Must be available to work night shifts from 10:00 PM IST to 07:00 AM IST (12:30 PM to 09:30 PM EST/EDT) and participate in a rotational 24/7 DBA On Call support schedule as required.
