Job Title: Administrative Clerk
Location: Washington DC (On-site)
Agency: Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Office of the Secretary
Clearance Level: Public Trust (or ability to obtain)

Position Summary:

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is seeking a highly organized and experienced Administrative Clerk to support its Office of the Secretary including the Congressional Correspondence Section. This role provides essential congressional support services and administrative and clerical functions critical to the agencys mission to protect consumers and maintain fair competition.

Key Responsibilities:

Congressional Support Services:

  • Manage and respond to inquiries from Congressional offices and the White House.

  • Redact sensitive personally identifiable information (PII) in official correspondence.

  • Scan incoming Congressional letters and emails apply Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and upload documents to the Commissions internal Document Management System.

  • Enter and manage detailed datasets into the Congressional Correspondence Management System.

  • Monitor the performance of both the Document Management System and Correspondence Management System to ensure functionality and compliance.

Administrative and Clerical Support:

  • Provide comprehensive clerical and records management support to the Office of the Secretary.

  • Digitize thousands of official Commission record documents using OCR software.

  • Enter and maintain extensive metadata related to official records in the Commissions internal systems.

  • Assist with the preservation of legal and historical Commission records including adjudicative proceedings under Part 3 of the FTC Rules of Practice.

  • Coordinate with other offices within the FTC to ensure the accuracy and completeness of recordkeeping and document submissions to the Federal Register.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience handling congressional and executive branch correspondence including document intake tracking and data entry.

  • At least 2 years of experience in general office administration and clerical work including file and record management.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite particularly Microsoft Word and Outlook.

  • Experience using Adobe Acrobat Professional and document management systems such as Documentum.

  • Strong command of the English language including spelling grammar and composition.

  • Exceptional attention to detail organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and uphold confidentiality requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous federal government or FTC experience.

  • Familiarity with federal records management policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of FTC adjudicative processes and Part 3 Rules of Practice.
