Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Electronics Technician will work in conjunction with the maintenance production and engineering departments. The primary job responsibility is to support the Extrusion Department through effective and timely equipment downtime troubleshooting and develop and implement equipment process improvements through the use of technology and automation.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Implement equipment and/or process improvements through the effective use of PLCs servo or variable speed drives camera technology robotic technology and any other resource(s) available to him/her.

  • Communicate effectively with suppliers and original equipment manufacturers

  • Assist the maintenance staff in operational debug of machine controllers motion systems robotics HMIs and all other related components in a timely and efficient manner

  • Train lesser-experienced electricians and mechanics

  • Assist the appropriate engineer in machine validation

  • Communicate with the project team to ensure a constant level of project awareness.

  • Work closely with the controls engineer who is responsible for ensuring all schematics and/or back up programs of PLCs HMI camera systems etc. are kept current and correct.

  • Attend certain technical training classes as deemed necessary by the Maintenance Supervisor Controls Engineer or Director of Maintenance and pass this knowledge along to peers and/or electrical maintenance personnel.

  • Work as required / assigned by the maintenance supervisor.

NEEDED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 5 7 years related experience and/or technical training in PLCs HMIs VFDs and electrical controls; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Associates Degree in electrical/electronics engineering is a plus but not required.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions electrical schematics short correspondence and memos

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form

  • Ability to calculate electrical ratios in addition to figures and amounts such as proportions ratios percentages area circumference and volume

  • The ability to conceptualize design build and implement simple to complex control systems and manufacturing equipment

  • Ability to stand walk sit use hand and eye coordination use hand/air/electrical power tools reach with hands and arms climb or balance stoop kneel crouch talk and listen.

  • Ability to work without direct supervision.

  • Must be a self-starter and team player capable of multitasking and prioritizing projects.

  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Must be able to work at height from ladders and mobile lift stations such as scissor lifts and articulating boom lifts

  • Must be able to work flexible schedules and overtime is frequently required.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision color vision and depth perception.

WORK SCHEDULES/HOURS:

  • Sunday through Tuesday 7 am to 7 pm (A Shift)

  • Sunday through Tuesday 7 pm to 7 am (B Shift)

  • Thursday through Saturday 7 am to 7 pm (C Shift)

  • Thursday through Saturday 7 pm to 7 am (D Shift)
