Job Summary: The Traffic Signal Helper will assist the Traffic Signal Technician in the installation maintenance and repair of traffic signal systems. This role involves working in various weather conditions performing physical labor and ensuring the smooth operation of traffic signals to enhance public safety and traffic flow.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the installation of new traffic signal systems including wiring poles and signal heads.
Assist in routine maintenance and inspection of existing traffic signals to ensure proper operation.
Help troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning traffic signal equipment.
Maintain accurate records of work performed including maintenance logs and repair reports.
Report any issues or potential problems with traffic signals to the Traffic Signal Technician or Supervisor.
Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures while working on or near roadways.
Follow company and regulatory standards for traffic signal operations and maintenance.
Minimum Requirements:
Basic understanding of electrical systems and tools.
Experience in concrete finishing
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Vocational training in electrical systems or related field preferred.
Familiarity with traffic signal systems is beneficial but not required.
Previous experience in electrical work construction or a related field is an advantage.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
Good physical condition and ability to perform manual labor including lifting heavy equipment.
Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions.
Primarily outdoor work in various weather conditions.
Exposure to traffic and construction site hazards.
Occasional evening weekend or on-call work may be required
Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
