Status: Full-time (1.0 FTE) Exempt
Department: Instructional Faculty Lower School (Grade 3)
Mounds Park Academy is a PreK-12 independent school in Saint Paul MN that serves approximately 575 students from throughout the Twin Cities area. Since 1982 Mounds Park Academy has engaged students in a rigorous college preparatory experience that is demanding but not draining and goes far beyond memorization. Students are challenged to apply their understanding to stir the human spirit stand for justice and shake the world. This is what we call rigor with purpose and it grounds our students in the radical idea that their identity in the world is not measured by a test score but rather by the depth and decency of their impact on the world.

Mounds Park Academy seeks a third-grade teacher to join our Lower School faculty for the 25-26 academic year. Mounds Park Academy is seeking a creative child-centered classroom teacher. The ideal candidate should be able to exhibit a wide range of teaching skills have the ability to design creative lessons have strong classroom management skills along with the ability to engage students in the learning process. The candidate must also have a strong desire to work as part of a team and be committed to the longtime MPA philosophy of whole-child education. It is expected that a successful candidate would:
- Inspire and lead students to enter the creative process
- Supervise encourage counsel and evaluate students
- Foster and sustain an effective classroom environment
- Communicate and meet with students and parents as necessary
- Show a willingness to contribute to the life of the school outside of the classroom
Qualifications
Minimum
- Bachelors degree in Elementary Education
- Minimum three years experience
- Comfortable using and teaching with technology
Preferred
- MN Teaching License
- Experience with differentiating curriculum for diverse learners
- Experience with Singapore Math
- Experience with Conscious Discipline PBIS Responsive Classroom and/or positive behavior strategies
