Job Duties
Builds therapeutic relationships and provides trust-building strength based individualized care that is consistent with the childs treatment plan using the least restrictive interventions necessary while upholding the rights and dignity of children and their families at all times. Provides direct care to psychiatric minor patients and as such this position is considered essential and is expected to report as scheduled during emergency events.
Minimum Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of Center policies procedures standards of conduct and agency regulations related to supervision of direct care staff of the characteristics of the assigned population of children and of all therapeutic programs delivered in the unit.
Demonstrated knowledge of child/adolescent development and needs of individuals with disabilities.
Demonstrated successful mastery of and ability to mentor other staff in areas including planning activities behavioral data writing reports implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of treatment plans interacting/communicating successfully with children/adolescents with a variety of physical and mental disabilities participating in therapeutic activities and providing assistance with activities of daily living and hygiene.
Willingness to play a lead role and ability to interact and intervene verbally and physically in crisis situations in order to property mentor other staff.
Successful completion of TOVA Ukeru DEFUSE and CPR. Ability to work overtime if needed. Ability to observe and describe observations orally and in writing.
Must possess basic computer literacy skills.
