College of Science & Engineering / School of Engineering / Engineering Teaching Organisation (ETO)

Part-time: 9 hours per week

Fixed-term: 12 months

The Opportunity:

Student Peer Support Coordinator

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic continuing undergraduate student to work as part of a team of two Student Peer Support Coordinators to lead the development and delivery of peer support activities across the diverse taught student community in the School of Engineering. The successful applicant will work together with staff and fellow students to develop new peer support initiatives supporting learning and building community within the school.

This post is part time for 9 hours per week with a one year contract which may be extended where students are continuing into the next academic year. The role is supported in partnership with the Edinburgh University Student Association (EUSA) Peer Learning & Support team and training is provided.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive and enthusiastic approach.
  • Ability to prioritise and initiate a work plan meet deadlines and work at times unsupervised.
  • A willingness to learn new skills as required and undertake appropriate training.
  • Past experience of EngPALS or other peer support schemes is desirable but not essential.
