The Workplace Health and Wellness Committee is in the process of recruiting new Peer Support members to assist our sworn and civilian members. The Peer Support program provides assistance to those in need from those with lived experiences. The Peer Support Team is offered to all members and is easily accessed for a variety of obstacles whether they are specific to policing or personal including relationship issues finances mental health and substance abuse.
The Brantford Police Service is seeking new members to be designated as Peer Supporters. These positions are to be occupied by both sworn and civilian members and represent our Service proportionately.
Applicants should have the ability to effectively communicate with others lived experience beneficial to the position and preferably have a minimum of three years of employment with the Brantford Police Service. Applicants must understand that this position entails developing and forging trust with members and that confidentiality is of paramount importance.
Successful applicants will be required to participate in a peer support training program which will be conducted at a later date convenient to those successful in attaining a peer support role.
