Based at the Centre for Childrens Research Centre adjacent to Qld Childrens Hospital in South Brisbane
The Childhood Health and Environment Program (CHEP) team is seeking a Clinical Research and Laboratory Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical public health research in a collaborative and supportive environment.
You will play a vital role in supporting the smooth day-to-day functioning of the CHEP laboratory and field operations. From handling human and environmental samples to maintaining equipment and assisting with participant follow-up this position offers a diverse and rewarding experience at the intersection of laboratory and clinical research. The incumbent is expected to have a valid drivers license access to a reliable vehicle and a willingness to attend off site project locations
Key responsibilities will include:
Receive process and log human and environmental clinical samples in accordance with research protocols.
Support fieldwork and clinical activities including participant recruitment sample collection and follow-up.
Maintain accurate laboratory records inventories and research databases.
Ensure compliance with safety biosafety and risk management procedures while operating laboratory equipment.

Diploma-level qualification in biochemistry molecular biology or a related field; or an equivalent combination of training and relevant experience.
Proven experience in handling human and environmental biological samples including conducting routine laboratory experiments.
Demonstrated ability to manage laboratory inventories maintain detailed records and use research databases.
Strong attention to detail and high standards of data accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply (employer-sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment). The successful candidate will also be required to complete mandatory immunisations and possess a Blue Card and Drivers Licence.
