Modified Academics Resource Room Secondary Teacher
The Modified Academics Resource Room Secondary Teacher uses a strength-based approach to teach students with identified mild to moderate and profound intellectual disabilities sometimes with additional diagnoses. The Modified Academics Resource Room Secondary Teacher provides strength based individualized educational instruction to support students in accessing a variety of inclusive learning experiences. This teacher collaborates with classroom teachers to ensure student access to inclusive classroom experiences and student access to learning opportunities through participation in a range of courses offered at the school.
Additionally the Modified Academics Resource Room Secondary Teacher provides specific instruction in the areas of the BC Ministry Revised Curriculum and based on the students individual strengths and stretches provides opportunities for students to develop the core competencies. This teacher coordinates specialized services such as occupational therapy and physiotherapy services. This teacher is case manager; developing and implementing support plans such as IEPs Positive Behavior Support Plans and Safety Plans designs and implements community-based learning as per the students individual strengths and stretches and plays a key role in facilitating student and family access to community supports and services.
