Job Description

Youth Mentor Coordinator:

Fixed Term Contract end date 30/06/2026 Full-Time 76 hours position Monday-Friday Leonora

SCHADS Level 5 ordinary rate of pay : $49.28 p/h & Regional Allowance

HOPE has been a community service in Western Australia for over a century providingmuch needed support to people affected by alcohol and other drugs mental ill-healthyouth justice issues and socioeconomic disadvantage.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Youth Mentor Coordinator to join the YouthJustice service team in Leonora.

About the Opportunity:

The project will target young people aged 11 to 17 with a particular focus on Laverton

Leonora and Leinster. It is anticipated that the project will reach more than 150 youngpeople through the delivery of a suite of programs and activities across the region.

This is a fixed term contractoffering 76hours per fortnight Monday-Friday with a fixedend date of 30th of June 2026.
Young people will be identified and invited to participate in program activities from a combination of referrals from local schools service providers government agencies (such as local police and local shires) locally based Aboriginal Community ControlledOrganisations local elders and community members.

Given the demographics of the targeted communities it is anticipated that most of theparticipants (more than 80%) will identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. All activities will be inclusive and accessible to all youth residing in the region regardless ofcultural background gender or abilityRequirements of the Role:

Duties & Responsibilities
Meet with the young person to build a relationship based on trust; to discuss problems and plan and facilitate programs focused on the specific needs of the young person as identified in the YJS case plan (developed via the YJS YLS
assessment tool)

Provide information about services and resources; refer young people to

appropriate specialist agencies and support the young person to sustain

participation with the services.

Liaise with teachers social workers local authorities health professionals

refuge workers and parents when relevant to the young persons YJS case

plan.

Deliver evidence-based programs primary prevention and early intervention in

education settings.

Work closely with the identified Youth Justice Officer for each young person to

deliver and facilitate with partner agencies outcomes for young people in 4

program areas of:

o Rehabilitation: Criminogenic Treatment and Support

o Emotional Wellbeing: Family & Community Engagement

o Education Training and Employment

o Life skills Health and Development

Increased locally based sporting and recreational activities for young people.

Increased school attendance and education attainment

Increased opportunities for young people to gain work-ready skills andexperiences

Use fortnightly reports and assessments to support and measure change in areas identified in the young persons YJS case plan.

Collect quality data and statistics to inform monthly KPI reports and
six monthly funder reports.

Essential Criteria:

Experience working with at-risk youth.

A broad understanding of the challenges and experiences of people in regionalWestern Australia.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Current C or A class drivers license
Working with Childrens Card

Police Certificate (within 3 months)

Department of Justice Clearance

Desirable Criteria:

Experience working in regional and/ or remote communities.
