****Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawaii may apply for Casual Hire positions which include administrative professional and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Salary Range:$24.85/hour

Work Schedule: M-F 7:45 am - 4:30 pm

Permanent/Temporary: Temporary Not to exceed 89 days (40 hrs/week)


Other Conditions: To begin approximately June 2025 for up to 89 days but may end sooner dependent on availability of funding and program need.


Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist in providing administrative support and direction to College of Social Sciences departments.
  2. *Reviews and audits departments personnel documents including but not limited to documents for hiring new faculty lecturers graduate assistants visiting colleagues ensuring compliance with applicable university policies and procedures.
  3. *Assists with fiscal and budgetary needs for departments including but not limited to tracking expenditures procurement processing payments and other fiscal documents.
  4. *Prepares and reviews travel forms for compliance for federal state and university rules and regulations.
  5. *Maintains office files and documents for maintenance contracts reports procurement inventory and other standard office records.
  6. *Initiates procurement of equipment and supplies including preparation of specifications and information for bid requests.
  7. *Advises and assists in training staff and students in preparation of administrative and fiscal related documents including but not limited to requisitions purchase orders travel requests/completion and other documents.
  8. Assists with college-wide functions as needed.
  9. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration Education or related field.
  2. Functional knowledge of principles practices and techniques in business or program administration demonstrated by knowledge understanding and ability to apply concepts terminology.
  3. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation write reports and procedures and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  4. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team members and individuals.
  5. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  6. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  7. Demonstrated experience working with spreadsheet software such as Excel.
