Job Summary: The Vocational Services Program located in Wayne and Oakland Counties provides skill building and job placement for adults with disabilities. This role involves working closely with job seekersoften from diverse or underserved backgroundsproviding career counseling job readiness training resume development interview preparation and job placement support. The Employment Specialist also builds and maintains relationships with local employers to identify job openings and match qualified candidates. Primary Duties and Responsibilities - Assist in the development of vocational assessments and goals based on the needs interests and abilities of persons served.
- Promote skill building and support employment program by networking with community partners.
- Highlight talents by matching the strengths and preferences of the employment seeker with the needs of the employer to help build lasting careers in their field of choice.
- Facilitate working relationships between the individual their co-workers and employer as needed to maintain strong lines of communication.
- Gathering qualitative and quantitative data to determine the efficacy of the services being provided.
Qualifications - Bachelors degree required.
- Valid Michigan Drivers License appropriate insurance and use of own vehicle.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
- Aptitude for working with people of all abilities in a variety of settings
- Efficient in assessing and developing SMART goals that are person-centered safety focused and culturally competent.
- Proficient in networking with current/prospective employers to locate/create job openings that match the employment seekers preferences.
- Ability to model and educate others within a team environment.
- Ability to develop supports (natural visual and/or written) to increase independence for the employment seeker at their place of employment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills relating to reporting documenting networking and advocacy.
- Well versed in technology (Microsoft Office electronic health records and 2 step authentication) to gather report and maintain qualitative/quantitative data.
- Have knowledge of ADA guidelines and how to request accommodation if/when needed.

Working Conditions - Position requires some travel utilizing personal vehicle w/mileage reimbursement.
- Job requires working in seasonal weather conditions.
- Job requires working with a variety of consumer behaviors including verbal and physical aggression.
