Job Description

Electronic Resource Management 70%
  • Collaborate with the appropriate stake holders in the acquisition access maintenance and troubleshooting of electronic resources including databases e-books and online legal research tools.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to vendors and consortia for the Law Librarys electronic resource management.
  • Develop implement and assess technologies to improve library services including discovery tools digital repositories and user interfaces.
  • Lead projects related to the evaluation and integration of new and emerging technologies in support of legal research teaching and scholarship.
  • Manage and enhance the librarys website and other digital communication tools.
  • Maintain current awareness of trends in legal technology library systems and digital services; provide leadership on adopting relevant innovations.
Outreach and Administrative Duties 20%
  • Participate in collection development particularly for electronic and digital materials.
  • Provide outreach service to the Kansas legal and library communities including the local area bar and KU Law alumni.
  • Contribute to the development of library policies and strategic planning related to technology and digital services.
  • Participate in professional development and service at the institutional regional and national levels.
  • Establish and foster contacts with other professionals and libraries by participating in committee work and the service activities of professional associations.
Instruction and Faculty Support 10%
  • Collaborate with law library colleagues to provide reference services electronic research instruction and library workshops as needed.
  • Maintain open-access scholarship repositories.

Position Overview
The Wheat Law Library at the University of Kansas School of Law invites applications for a tenure-track assistant librarian to join the faculty. The Electronic Services and Emerging Technologies Librarian will lead the librarys efforts in managing electronic resources and integrating emerging technologies that enhance access to legal information and support the educational and research missions of the Law School. This position plays a critical role in the evaluation implementation and support of digital tools and services and collaborates with library staff IT personnel and faculty.

The Electronic Services and Emerging Technologies Librarian is a member of the Wheat Law Library and reports to the Director of the Wheat Law Library. As a member of the Wheat Law Library this position contributes to the educational and research support of the faculty staff and students at the University of Kansas School of Law as well as the broader University of Kansas community. This position works closely with colleagues in the Wheat Law Library and beyond to accomplish shared goals and works to strategically address the libraries priorities.

This is a full-time 12-month tenure-track faculty position. The position reports to the director of the Wheat Law Library although the tenure and rank considerations are governed by the University Libraries promotion and tenure procedures.
