Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking a Sr. Accounts Payable Accountant. This position processes high-volume financial transactions in compliance with the Prompt Payment Act state regulations and agency policies. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely disbursement of payments to vendors employees and other entities which includes auditing and processing financial transactions maintaining refund records reconciling disbursements and supporting both internal and external audits.
Responsibilities Include
Analyzing and auditing invoices statements purchase orders receiving reports and licensing agent reports in accordance with the Prompt Payment Act contractual agreements and the Code of Virginia mandates
Processing daily vendor payments using Oracle Financial Small Purchase Credit Card and/or CARDINAL systems.
Processing and auditing travel reimbursements in Oracle ensuring compliance with State Travel Regulations and DMV policies.
Monitoring and reconciling purchase card transactions in the Bank of America Works system
Maintaining vendor data in Oracle Financials and Cardinal systems
Reviewing payable vouchers for accuracy appropriate approvals and compliance with policies

Minimum Qualifications
Experience in Accounts Payable or general accounting
Experience working in high-volume invoice processing and vendor management
Strong understanding of Accounts Payable processes accounting principles and record reconciliation (e.g. 3-way matching accruals)
Working knowledge of accounting principles accounts payable processes and financial regulations including the Prompt Payment Act
Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and ensure accuracy and compliance with fiscal regulations
Ability to prioritize meet deadlines and work independently or as part of a team
Strong attention to detail accuracy and organizational skills
Proficiency in accounting software such as Oracle PeopleSoft or CARDINAL
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Additional Considerations
Experience with Oracle Financials or CARDINAL is preferred
Mentoring experience
