Primary Purpose
Provide intensive instructional strategies utilizing individualized intensive multi-sensory methods for students identified as having dyslexia reading difficulties and/or at risk of failing. The focus of the position is on instructional interventions for struggling students and teacher support.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
Bachelors Degree
Valid Texas teaching certificate
ESL certificationrequired within seven months of employment for elementary and secondary core content areas; Math Science Social Studies English and Special Education.
Special Knowledge/Skills
General knowledge of reading difficulties
Knowledge of primary reading instruction and strategies
Experience
Three experience in elementary reading instruction preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Strategies
1. Implement approved techniques for treating students with dyslexia related disorders and reading difficulties.
2. Provide instructional strategies utilizing multi-sensory methods for students.
3. Provide each identified student access to instructional services for students with reading disorders or difficulties.
4. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
5. Present the subject matter according to treatment program and guidelines established by TEA board policies and administrative regulations.
6. Plan and utilize appropriate instructional/learning strategies activities materials and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned.
7. Cooperate with other staff in planning and implementing a treatment program for at-risk students according to district requirements.
8. Use technology in the teaching and learning process.
Student Growth and Development
9. Assist students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study.
10. Consistently monitor student achievement through formal and informal methods.
Classroom Management and Organization
11. Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students physical social and emotional development.
12. Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to policies procedures and the code of conduct.
13. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
Communication
14. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students parents and staff and communicate information accurately and clearly.
15. Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues students parents and community members.
16. Present a positive role model for students and demonstrate behavior that is professional ethical and responsible.
Professional Growth and Development
17. Participate in professional learning and maintain familiarity with district initiatives to better serve students.
18. Keep informed of and comply with laws policies and regulations related to job functions.

FISDpays $365 a month towards TRS Health Insurance
You can earn up to 5 local and 5 state days if you start at beginning of school year.
