POSITION: A. Crosby Kennett Middle School Local Educational Agency (LEA) Representative
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold or be eligible for New Hampshire Special Education certification
- Thorough understanding of current federal state and local laws and regulations regarding the education of children with disabilities
- Teaching experience preferred
- Special education case management experience within the last 5 years
- Demonstrated effective collaboration with various stakeholders including students families district administration and community partners
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Other qualifications as may be deemed essential for successful performance in the position
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services
JOB GOAL: To coordinate and oversee the special education process from referral to Individual Education Plan development so that students may access their education in the least restrictive environment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts as LEA for the special education process for middle school aged students.
- Establishes and maintains contact and collaboration with parents school staff related service providers and students regarding the special education referral process.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate records for each student to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
- Reports initial referral to the Director of Special Services and the Special Services Administrative Assistant.
- Coordinates evaluations as required.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self- selected professional growth activities.
- Performs other such duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Director of Student Services Designee or Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with the Conway Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement. Salary and wage would be one and one/half time the per diem hourly rate or $75/hr whichever is greater.
WORK YEAR: up to 360 hours/fiscal year; Unit 4 budget
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the appropriate Conway Personnel Policy. The Director of Special Services will be the evaluator.
